Predictive value of serum β2-microglobulin in cardiac valve calcification in maintenance hemodialysis patients

چکیده

Background: Cardiac valve calcification (CVC) is associated with adverse cardiovascular events. We studied the risk factors of CVC in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients and value serum β2-microglobulin (β2-MG) levels predicting incidence CVC. β2-MG a middle molecular weight toxin. In recent years, researchers found that elevated blood was coronary, thoracic, abdominal aortic calcifications significant correlations. has been emerging as strong biomarker for mortality uremic but its role not well studied. This study looked specifically at occurrence relation to MHD patients.

Predicting residual kidney function in hemodialysis patients using serum β-trace protein and β2-microglobulin.

Residual kidney function (RKF) contributes significant solute clearance in hemodialysis patients. Kidney Diseases Outcomes Quality Initiative (KDOQI) guidelines suggest that hemodialysis dose can be safely reduced in those with residual urea clearance (KRU) of 2 ml/min/1.73 m(2) or more. However, serial measurement of RKF is cumbersome and requires regular interdialytic urine collections. Simpl...

Association of serum alkaline phosphatase with coronary artery calcification in maintenance hemodialysis patients.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Recent in vitro studies have shown a link between alkaline phosphatase and vascular calcification in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). High serum levels of alkaline phosphatase are associated with increased death risk in epidemiologic studies of maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. We hypothesized that coronary artery calcification is independently associ...

All-cause mortality in hemodialysis patients with heart valve calcification.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Calcification of the mitral and aortic valves is common in dialysis patients (CKD-5D). However, the prognostic significance of valvular calcification (VC) in CKD is not well established. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS, & MEASUREMENTS 144 adult CKD-5D patients underwent bidimensional echocardiography for qualitative assessment of VC and cardiac computed tomography (CT)...

Predictive Value of Aortic Valve Calcification for Periprocedural Myocardial Injury in Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

AIMS Previous studies have shown that aortic valve calcification (AVC) was associated with cardiovascular events and mortality. On the other hand, periprocedural myocardial injury (PMI) in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is a well-known predictor of subsequent mortality and poor clinical outcomes. The purpose of the study was to assess the hypothesis that the presence of AVC could pred...
